  • Sting and Trudie Styler: Yoga and an active sex life keeps us fit!

    Photo: Harper’s Bazaar

Rocker Sting and Trudie Styler, his wife of 18 years, maintain their fit, youthful physiques by doing yoga every day and having an active sex life.

    TRUDIE RELEASES WEIGHT-LOSS YOGA VIDEO

Styler, 57, who released a yoga exercise DVD in 2009, is launching another workout video called Weight Loss Yoga in March 2011.

Both she and Sting, 59, have been doing yoga for 20 years, crediting their daily workouts with a happier marriage and an increased feeling of well-being in all areas of their lives.

Despite their disciplined approach to exercise, Styler and Sting indulge their joie de vivre. “We’re epicureans; we believe in the good life,” Sting tells the February 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.

Styler adds, “Eating’s pretty major; we have feasts at our house.”

    ‘WE LOVE TAWDRY SEX’

Another major component of their happy marriage is plenty of “tawdry” sex.

“I don’t think pedestrian sex is very interesting,” says Sting. “I like the theater of sex. I like to look good. I like her to dress up. I like to dress her up.”

Trudie and Styler, who have been together for almost 30 years, have raised six children together and weathered ups and downs in both their personal and professional lives.

Through it all, they’ve managed to stay in love despite the pitfalls of fame, fortune and temptation. So what’s their secret?

“We treat every day as it comes,” Sting explains. “Relationships aren’t easy, and I don’t think they’re particularly natural, but we’re lucky because we actually like each other.

“We love each other–that’s a given–but Trudie lights my world up when she comes into a room. I don’t take her for granted.”

Communication is also key. “It’s important to have frank discussions about what the other wants,” Styler says. “To be in a relationship that is like a little lifetime, that’s a challenge.”

‘I DO YOGA 45-90 MINUTES EVERY DAY’

And what’s Trudie’s secret for her youthful good looks and fat-free physique? In addition to regular Botox and facial filler injections, she does yoga, Pilates, cardio and ballet.

“I practice yoga for 45 minutes to an hour-and-a-half every day, wherever I am,” says Styler.

“Yoga is the best holistic workout and body toner there is. It sorts out a chaotic mind and calms the body – it is how I de-stress, or stop myself getting stressed in the first place.”

‘YOGA HAS ENRICHED MY LIFE IN EVERY WAY’

Similarly, Sting is a yoga devotee, saying it has helped him stay fit physically and balanced mentally.

“Yoga has enriched my life by allowing me to improve physically; which is very inspiring, especially as you get older. I tour an awful lot, and being on the road is not always easy.

Yoga is a great way to offset the downsides of touring by bringing much-needed peace and sanity into what can be a hectic life. Like music, yoga is a journey one that is long enough so you keep developing, and keep learning. I don’t see an end to it.”

Trudie doesn’t believe in dieting, but makes an effort to eat well. “I eat organic food as much as possible, but I’m not militant about it,” she says. “If I’m a guest in someone’s house or in a restaurant, I eat whatever is on offer.

“But I do have to eat regularly during the day because otherwise my blood glucose levels drop and I start to feel faint and become hypoglycemic. I usually have healthy snacks on me, just in case I’ve been too busy running around to eat properly.”

Styler’s new fitness video, Weight Loss Yoga, comes out in March.

In the past the type of work we as humans did was based more on necessity than choice. You’re a farmer, or metal-smith, scholar, soldier, weaver—you did what you had to do, and circumstances were largely out of your control.

There have also always been people who dreamed of being more than their environment, but breaking out of the path many were born into certainly had to be more of an exception than what is possible today.

Things have changed. The internet, just as one example, is one of the greatest equalizers of opportunity ever! Anybody with a great idea, the skills and the resources can capitalize on a worldwide audience. Hopefully you’ve realized that but you know what? Out of habit many people still don’t.

As a society we haven’t figured out that the necessity of “doing what we have to do” isn’t as ironclad as many would be led to believe; that we have way more options today and way more opportunity then we can even handle. Yes or yes?

The fact is, though, most people do not love what they do for a living. They suffer through it. They do it because they “have” to do it, because they should do it, or because they’re skilled at it. I especially love that one.

“But do you like what you do?”

“I hate it but I’m good at it!”

Are you supposed to love work? Yes!

You know how we can make everyone successful? We’ll all just do one thing. We’ll all be internet marketers. Everyone will get rich, how about that? NO! It’s boring! Maybe not for you, but maybe for someone else who needs, wants and loves to personally interact with as many people as possible. The challenge for them is to find a way to get rich incorporating that into what they do or whatever their passion is.

So it’s imperative to do what we love to do, what we truly enjoy. Joy is a clue from the heart, different from pleasure. When you invoke the feeling of joy you’re tapping into your higher nature, your truer self, and the source of your full power, your full creativity, your full wisdom.

Passion creates energy. Energy creates enthusiasm. When you are passionate about what you do does that come through? Will people want what you’ve got? Have you ever bought anything or wanted to buy something from someone just because you liked that person, versus a person that’s got a really good product, but who shows none or—even worse—false enthusiasm? You don’t want to buy like that. It makes a huge difference for people.

Human energy, at its purest form, is love. And that energy transfers just like any other energy. When you’re passionate about something, you don’t have to sell it. You’re simply educating others on something you really believe in, and their lack of enthusiasm doesn’t temper yours, but rather the other way around. If you don’t love what you do, then what the hell are you doing?!

Now it’s your turn! What do you think? What are the barriers that keep people from realizing that there doesn’t have to be a discrepancy between becoming rich and becoming joyful in what you do? We want to hear from you!!

  • Meditation Musings on a Fall Monday morning

As I start my day, week, first of the month with Meditation, I am excited about the day. I sit at my candle lit alter at 6 amish and close my eyes. In front of me, my alter is full of inspirations, from a statue of the Buddha, Ganesha reading the Bhaghavad Gita, items from my Tibet trip, my yoga and spiritual teachers, the Serenity Prayer and Just for Today, incense, angle cards, my over-sized 1 Million dollar bill, a picture of my daughter and I together and several card of inspiration.

I begin by exploring the mind, or shall I say watching and getting caught up in thoughts.., then I remember I am not these thoughts… so I go to the the place behind them. There I find stillness, as a very visual person, it appears as if I am looking up into the sky at the stars and seeing the vastness of never-ending-ness. I hang out there for a little bit in silence and it feels like a warm soothing bath.

Then suddenly I hear my breath!!!!! Wow, this body is breathing…. it’s not mine, yet simply a vessel that I experience life in.. this leads back to thoughts and quickly I lose this larger sense of oneness that I know I am. I am back to me… getting excited about the experience and wanting to share it with you here on my blog.. that I have neglected forever as I went through major transition in my life this last year.. that’s another musing…

Words can barely touch the surface to explain the feelings and sensations related to experiencing the breath as shared above. For me to just notice the beauty of the breath and it function in my life is truly a miracle.  As I write and reflect on this time that has just passes over 30 minutes ago…

I can correlate it to a time when I was 5 year old. I used to lye awake in bed asking “Why Me”, I don’t know who I was asking, maybe the God in the sky with the white beard who was punishing me (as I was conditioned to believe, yet no longer do).  At 5 I did experience this same vastness of time and space, as if there was none… it was this never-ending-ness- some would say nothingness, but back then as a small child it was full of fear, anger, overwhelmed and so much pain that I just couldn’t wait for it to end. I wanted out of this body (it hurt to much) I wanted out of this miserable life.  I could not breathe and every moment was pure agony.

Now I not only feel so much joy for the ability to be on a peaceful realm, but to be able to actually leaved the body so to speak…. by experiencing that I am something, a creative being that is more than this body and to see the pure beauty of this life experience is beyond excitement.

I have had reservations for a long time about really sharing my heart with the world here on my blog..(it means I have healed a great deal for you to be reading this) but now know that it is a healing process for me and for others and am finally beyond the caring what others think of me (if it’s negative of course) and putting myself out there…
the kids in my life are about to be abounding into it… so it’s time to be ready for them and jump into the daily life.. i do my best to find these meditative moments in the day and remember that the breath is the key to really bringing me back into the present moment.

Please leave your comments, i would love to hear what you think.. if they are positive or supportive that is… ;-)

  • Expert in personal transformation?

Got a Vision Board? It’s January 2010 and starting off the new year with focus is essential! I just finished my vision board a few days ago, And recently attended a Millionaire Tour the other night. I was so inspired by what the speakers where presenting! So much of it was on cue with my practices of radical transformation, yet it all related to money, well, it was a Millionaire Tour! Who doesn’t want to make millions?  What really struck me is that Brad Hager (a Multi-Millionaire)  talked about writing out your dream list, what will your life look like on December 31st, 2010. He then then empowered us to rewrite it every day for 30 days. Record it and listen to it often and take action towards making it happen!  So I AM pumped up! I finished my vision board, got this amazing new journal F.U.E.L (Focused – Unlimited – Extraordinary  – Life) by Trisha L. Moore, and filled out my affirmations, my goals and intentions, my bucket list, and who I am attracting into my life.

I had a little bit of time left before had to leave to pick up my daughter from school and head off to teach kids yoga, I picked up my iphone and drew a card from.. click on pic to get application.

    T. Hav Eker’s Secrets to Success of a Millionaire Mind application, and it said “BE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO” “To get paid the best you must be an the best, rich people are experts in their field…  this lead me to open up my journal and write and here is what showed up..

Let me share with you that sometimes when I write I ask questions to a larger source, I really don’t give it a name, well, not true, I give it many names, such as Angels, guides, spirits, god, higher power, highest good.. something beyond my ego.. etc… you get the idea, I am not attached to a name, but this energy serves in guiding me..

Here is  a journal entry from Wednesday January 20th, 2010

Which leads me to where am I an expert? According to Malcolm Gladwell’s book “Outliers” it’s an accumulation of 10 years in a specific field and spending over 10,000 hours in that area.  So clearly I am an expert in radically transforming myself. Being a personal trainer for 20 years, 10+ years of coaching and teaching yoga, I am all about growing and evolving as a human being and have succeed in making most of my dreams come true!

So I come back to the how? How do I share my own transformation and get it out there that I am an expert in the transformation process? That I can guide others in this process, to help them manifest their dreams?  I don’t know what the answer is?  How do I authentically put myself out there and share my own transformation to other that will show that I am an expert in the field of using these tools? Ok, here is the answer…. share what you just wrote. Let people in! They don’t know you from adam, share your story, your fear, your process.. give them the juicy details and let them know it’s possible!   Today you drew the  Angel card “Listening”. Are you listening? We have been guiding you to get in your 7 practices daily, take the time to write, practice yoga, meditate, wonder, write about them… why do I keep crying here?….. because I am scared shirtless (;-) of rejection and having people laugh at me and making a complete fool of myself. Good awareness, now do it anyways, who cares what they think, do it and you may be serving in helping someone!

Please, simply type this into your web site and put it out there daily. Don’t be afraid to share it, people need to see how real you are. You can’t hide anymore if you want to powerfully inspire and empower others beings. Yes, the tears are flowing as I write this and again as I type this, and I  know that this is really a part of the healing that really needs to happen. As you always said, JUST DO IT! Feel the fear and do it anyways.. As Bob Marley Says, Don’t worry about a thing, cause everything little thing is gonna be alright!  What a blast I had last week having my yoga students sing this song in shoulder-stand, 31  beginning yogis singing about it all being OK!  Time to run off and pick up grace and head off to teach some wonderful kids yoga… awe the life of a passionate single mom – big dreams and always searching for more time to make it all happen, its all good, dreams are being realized.
